Award Winning Illustrator to Visit on January 28
Matt Wilson Elementary is excited to announce that award winning author/illustrator Chris Soentpiet will visit on January 28. The Tift County Foundation for Educational Excellence has provided the grant that made Mr. Soentpiet's visit possible. To learn more about Chris Soentpiet, click here.
School News

Visitors to the art room at Matt Wilson Elementary School might be surprised to find themselves in a Civil War museum. Fifth grade students are currently displaying their Civil War projects. Classes from the entire school have enjoyed walking through the museum and learning about the Civil War from the displays created by their fellow students.

5th grade teacher Margaret "Meg" Matthews was chosen as one of twelve Tift county educators to be given the annual "Excellence in Teaching" award. Ms. Matthews was surprised in her classroom on Monday, November 17 with the award. Winners receive a cash award, a plague, and are honored at a banquet to be held in February. Matt Wilson Elementary is extremely proud to have one of its own recognized with this honor.

Report Card Highlights
- Met Adequate Yearly Progress criteria in 11 out of 11 areas.
- Nearly 88% of 6th graders met or exceeded standards on the CRCT English Language Arts.
